In 1978 when I started Matt Godek, Inc., I needed a logo that showed the transition of soccer to the evolution of Rugby. I designed this logo with the help of Steve Wagner. The logo shows how a Rugby ball is handled by passing, using a player's hands and the ball as it flows through the design to the wearer's left, you see the oval Rugby ball passed and ending up as the round ball at the foot of a soccer player. Additionally, the traditional horizontal stripes of the rugby jersey flow into the traditional vertical stripes of the soccer jersey. On the back, a full print of "No Guts, No Glory" which I used to sum it all up
